A Classic Northwest American Gin

COCKTAIL RECIPES

Here in the Northwest we have great respect tradition. Which isn’t to say we don’t have our own unique take on things. Case-in-point these updated classics featuring the Northwester’s premier gin, Red Fern.

  • 2 ounces Red Fern Gin
    3/4 ounce simple syrup
    1/2 ounce lemon juice
    3 organic strawberries (chopped)
    2 basil leaves

  • Lightly muddle strawberries and basil together in a shaker. Add the rest of the ingredients then shake and strain. Garnish with a lemon peel or basil leaf.

Strawberry Basil Smash

  • 2 ounces Red Fern Gin
    3/4 ounces fresh lime juice
    3/4 ounces simple syrup
    Large pinch cilantro

  • Muddle the cilantro with a cube of ice in a shaker and crush together. Add the rest of the ingredients, shake, and strain. Garnish with a lime wedge and cilantro.

Cilantro Gimlet

  • 1 ounce Red Fern Gin
    1 ounce Limoncello
    1/2 ounce lemon juice
    1/2 ounce simple syrup
    1 egg white (optional)

  • Combine all ingredients (including egg white, if using) in a shaker with no ice. Shake aggressively. Add ice and shake again. Strain into a coup glass. If desired, add a dash of bitters in lieu of a garnish.

Limoncello Gin Sour

  • 2 ounces Red Fern Gin
    3/4 ounces lavender syrup
    3/4 ounces lemon juice
    Fill with club soda

  • Combine all in a glass. Garnish with lavender sprigs or a lemon wedge.

Lavender Collins

  • 2 ounces Red Fern Gin
    1/2 - 3/4 ounce honey
    Hot water
    Squeeze of lemon juice
    Cardamom pods & star anise
    1/4 Grenadine
    Club soda
    2 dashes Angostura bitters

  • Heat up water then add the spices, gin, honey, and lemon. The longer you let it sit, the better it gets.
